It’s been a year filled with high political drama, where foreign incidents spilled into domestic politics, where polls showed public opinion changing towards Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre.
There were controversies on Parliament Hill involving former governor general David Johnston’s short-lived appointment as special rapporteur on foreign interference, questions over the tens of billions of dollars given to lure and keep auto companies in Ontario, and then a western premier revolt when the Liberal government announced the loosening of the carbon pricing regime for a select group of Canadians.
Next week, on “It’s Political,” my colleagues from the Toronto Star’s Ottawa bureau Susan Delacourt, Stephanie Levitz and Mark Ramzy will join me to talk about the year that was and what’s in store for 2024.
